Daichi Yamaguchi, who most recently portrayed Ikazuchi in Kamen Rider Zero-One, will appear in the drama 24 Japan. The actor will appear in episode 6 on November 13.
Yamaguchi will appear as Ichiki Sanji (市来三次), a member of the same group as Kenya Hasebe (Shuhei Uesugi) and Go Samejima (Atsuhiro Inukai), who follows the mysterious Tamizo Kanbayashi (Kazuya Takahashi).
A new photo was also revealed of the actor with the daughter of Genba Shido (Toshiaki Karasawa), Miyu Shido (Hiyori Sakurada), who was kidnapped.
Regarding the role, Yamaguchi stated that “It’s not an exaggeration to say that 24 triggered the popularity of dramas from overseas, and has attracted worldwide attention. The show was remade as a modern, Japanese version. When I heard I could participate, I was thrilled.”
The actor also mentioned that his role is slightly different from the original. There will be many tense scenes. But, he feels that the cast is creating 24 Japan as a team, and they have all been supportive of each other.
24 Japan is a remake of the American drama 24 that initially debuted in November 2001. The remake will also have 24 episodes. Season 1 began broadcasting on TV Asahi on October 9. Toshiaki Karasawa portrays the Japanese version of Jack Bauer (initially portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland.) Season 1 of 24 Japan will revolve around the day of an important general election when everyone has high hopes for the first possible Prime Minister of Japan. However, there’s news that a terrorist may attempt to assassinate the female candidate.
