Kenichi Suzumura Grants Young Fan’s Tanabata Wish

Kenichi Suzumura (鈴村健一) is a popular voice actor in Japan. He’s performed a variety of roles, most notably Ryutaros in Kamen Rider Den-O from 2007 to reprising the role in Kamen Rider ZI-O’s Den-O themed episodes.

Suzumura hosts a weekday radio show One Morning that airs from 6AM-9AM on TOKYO FM

He offers to make a wake-up call to listeners, which was once a special event but is now a regular part of the show. He received a request from a female listener. Her daughter Honoka, a 5-year-old, was difficult to wake up. Honoka is also a big fan of Ryutaros. During Tanabata (the “Star Festival”) on July 7th, her wish was: “I want to meet Ryutaros.”

Suzumura first calmly said on the phone “Hello, it’s uncle.” but went on to ask “Do you love Den-O? Shall I call Ryutaros to the phone?” He switched to Ryutaros’ voice and said “Honoka-chan! Morning! You’ll wake up early tomorrow, right? I can’t hear your answer! See ya!” then ended the call by returning to his regular tone, saying he was busy and had to take off on the Denliner.

Although the call was only a few seconds, fans who were listening expressed their excitement online. It was the first time in eleven years that they heard Ryutaros’ voice on the radio. They also expressed “I can’t believe I get to hear Ryutaros in the Reiwa era!” Many were also impressed at Suzumura’s gentle communication style with Honoka.
