Yusuke Tomoi Announces Retirement Following Assault of Girlfriend
Yusuke Tomoi (友井雄亮) previously portrayed Ryou Asihara/Kamen Rider Gills in Kamen Rider Agito. He has been working in the entertainment industry since 1994. After appearing in the show, he continued work in the music industry as part of the five-man group Jyunretsu. Kamen Rider Ryuki’s Ryohei Odai (小田井涼平) is also part of the group.
Tomoi has formally announced his retirement following news that he assaulted a live-in (now ex) girlfriend.
In a blog post that is now deleted, Tomoi gave more details about the incident. He stated that there’s “no doubt” he attacked her. Yahoo! Japan reposted the contents of the post. His girlfriend was pregnant at the time and miscarried, but Tomoi denies that he was the cause of the loss of the unborn child. He also obtained large amounts of money from her, which would be used for gambling. Tomoi also details other infidelity, including meeting with married women.
Following the news, Tomoi held a news conference in Tokyo to announce his retirement. Tomoi’s agency decided to hold a press conference about the incident because the news was scheduled to be published in a weekly magazine on January 17, 2019. He discussed the news, stating that his behavior was unforgivable and that he will take time to think over his actions and improve himself in the future.
Tomoi also admitted that when he became too anxious during an argument, he found it difficult to restrain himself from resorting to physical violence. Tomoi has also faced increasing debuts of over 30 million yen from horse racing gambling.
