Kamen Rider Actor Toshinobu Matsuo Found Guilty on Charges

Toshinobu Matsuo (松尾敏伸), who portrayed Kabuki/Kamen Rider Kabuki in Kamen Rider Hibiki and Yoshimasa Morishita/Armadillo Orphnoch in Kamen Rider 555, was arrested on May 9, 2018 by the Harajuku Police Station. He was arrested on suspicion of violating the Stimulants Control Law in or around Tokyo in April to early May of 2018. He denied these charges, but was re-arrested for the same charges on May 30, 2018. According to the Harajuku station, a police officer met with Matsuo and performed a urine test. The test was positive for drug use.

The actor recently appeared in court for his charges of violating the Stimulant Drug Control Law. He was found guilty of his charges for both use and possession. Matsuo was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months imprisonment with hard labor.

However, the judge has allowed him a 3 year suspended sentence, where he will have the opportunity to go through rehabilitation. According to Japanese law, if he does not break the law during this time, there is a possibility he will not have to fulfill his prison sentence. If he is in violation within this period, the prosecution requested he be sentenced to 2 years imprisonment with hard labor (6 months longer than the initial sentence).

The Judge pointed out that he purchased and used illegal stimulants at a frequency of once every two weeks. Matsuo pledged that he would cut off all drug use, saying he should be given a chance to go through rehabilitation.
