Actor Renn Kiryama, first starred in Kamen Rider W (2009) as Shotaro Hidari. Kiriyama was cast as Shirasu Kinjo, a freeloader, but pays for his stay by doing chores and attending to guests. He recently spoke about his role to AmebaTimes and TV Life.
Laughing Under the Clouds is a story about the three Kumo brothers in 1868. After the Meiji Restoration, the country had several criminals still wandering Japan. After being arrested, they escaped jail and caused havok. The government tried to make a stronger prison in the middle of Lake Biwa. Criminals had to be transported to the prison after their capture. The Kumo brothers had the responsibilty of transporting these dangerous criminals.
Kiriyama is starring in the movie alongside Sota Fukushi, who portrayed the protagonist Gentaro Kisaragi/Kamen Rider Fourze. Fukushi takes on the starring role in the film as the oldest Kumo brother, Tenka.
TV Life asked Kiriyama about how much time has passed since he previously worked with Fukushi. He stated it was a reunion after a few years. They last saw each other in Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Fourze & OOO: Movie War Mega Max, which was fun for all the staff at the time. Kiriyama was acting as the teacher compared to the high school student he was working with. It was emotional reuniting six years later. Fukushi performs his role in Laughing Under the Clouds seriously, and Kiriyama watched carefully, as if he was now the student.
Laughing Under the Clouds will be released on March 21, 2018
