Ryosuke Yamamoto’s Kamen Rider Experience was Irreplaceable
Ryosuke Yamamoto recently stared Chotto Mate Yakyubu!, a live-action comedy movie about a high school baseball club, along with Kenta Suga (Shinichi of Juken Sentai Gekiranger) and Yuuta Koseki. In recent years, he talked about the valuable experiences gained by being an actor in Kamen Rider.
When Yamamoto got the offer for Chotto Mate Yakyubu! he thought “It would be fun if you acted with Suga as a classmate.” In fact, he seemed to enjoy it as if he were in high school. Yamamoto had the opportunity to see the finished film recently for the first time. Chotto Mate Yakyubu! debuts in theaters on January 27, 2018.
In 2011, Yamamoto became a finalist in the 2nd Junon Super Boy contest. He made his acting debut in 2011’s Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. He later went on to star in Kamen Rider Ghost as Makoto Fukami/Kamen Rider Specter. He stated “It’s rare for an actor to play the same role for a year. Not only was it a television series, but there was also a movie version. I experienced many things and got to stand in front of people at a stage greeting. I feel like I was able to grow as an actor as well as a human.”
Yamamoto also starred beside two other Kamen Rider actors in the TBS drama Rikuoh. Ryoma Takeuchi (Shinnosuke Tomari/Kamen Rider Drive) and Gaku Sano (Kouta Kazuraba/Kamen Rider Gaim) appeared in the drama. Yamamoto stated “It was exciting to act beside Sano and Takeuchi for the first time in a while. I thought it was very exciting. I hope to work harder, especially since Takeushi was the Kamen Rider before me. While watching his success, I felt as though I could do this if I worked hard.
The actors of Kamen Rider who sar in the same show together have a special bond. Hayato Isomura, who co-starred along Yamamoto as Alain/Kamen Rider Necrom, chats regularly with Yamamoto on LINE daily. Yamamoto stated “The role I played was as Alain’s good friend, but I was very happy when we got to know each other (laughs).” They also share similar hobbies. “We like each other’s taste in clothing, so I’m thinking of buying something similar next time. We also like the same music. I might not answer until four hours later on LINE. (laugh).”
This year, Yamamoto will also take to the stage in February in the final chapter of the Mononofu. He will take on the role of Soji Okita. He will then go in to act in the movie neat neat neat.
When asked about his hopes for the future, he stated that he wanted to be like the actor Shun Oguri, but by the time he’s the same as as Masaki Suda. “Suda was a finalist of Junon. I didn’t receive the same prize he did, but he went on to perform in Kamen Rider and move on to be one of the top actors.”
Yamamoto is chasing the path of the Kamen Rider actors that came before him. The day when actors are chasing Yamamoto’s path instead seems to be near.
