Hiroshi Fujioka, who portrayed Takeshi Hongo/Kamen Rider 1, recently spoke at the 4th Senior Relay Talk in the city of Kawagoe on January 13, 2018. The theme of the event was “Learning from Bushido: I will appreciate my life!.” About 650 people attended the event.
Fujioka said “I learned from my father’s Bushido lessons: it’s over once you give up. It strengthened my spirit.” He recalled how it helped him in the acting industry as a Kamen Rider later “Bushido having the spirit of self-sacrifice for the sake of humans and the world for the future.” He emphasized that “the world is paying attention to the Japanese way of life.”
He is part of the Baby Boomer Generation and stated that “Each human carries a heavenly life, awareness of responsibility, and realizing what will be left for the next generation’s children.” He went on to say that this was his mission to send the message.
A 67-year-old woman from Yokohama City who attended the lecture stated “Fujioka-san’s mental stregnth is wonderful. He gave my weak self strength.”
In addition to Fujioka’s speech, there were company briefings on senior employment, networking between NPO and professional volunteers, a mini-symposium on community development, and a poetry contest.
