Fukuoka’s Ukyo Matsumoto Speaks About Being Kamen Rider Snipe

Ukyo Matsumoto portrays Taiga Hanaya/Kamen Rider Snipe on TV Asahi’s Kamen Rider Ex-Aid. The movie Kamen Rider Ex-Aid True Ending was recently released on August 5, 2017.

Matsumoto has longed to be a Kamen Rider from an early age. Speaking about Taiga, he stated “I was worried about how to play a bad guy who doesn’t care about his surroundings. As the story progressed, I realized that there are other humans who have suffered in the past and my feelings of attachment came out.”

Kamen Rider Ex-Aid debut in October 2016. After the middle half aired, opportunities to speak with the screenwriters increased. “If the character dies early, the viewer will remember them longer. But, I told them, I want to overcome the past and connect to the future without dying.”

After graduating high school in Fukuoka, he moved to Tokyo. Afetr working as a fashion model, he made his debut two years ago. At first, he struggled with intonation and word accents. While filming the movie, he was  to redo scenes from the Director. “If the intonation sounds funny, the director will say it’s no good. Hanamaru Hakata (Haima Kagami), who co-starred, gave me help.

The movie shows the end of the story before the last tv episode. People who are unfamiliar with the tv show can also enjoy the movie. Matsumoto said “In the movie, it is the responsibility of the adults to protect children. I want to see parents and children watch together.” Unlike his role as Taiga Hanaya, he spoke with a gentle tone.
