Yuichi Nakamura Discusses His Role as Sakurai Yuuto/Kamen Rider Zeronos

Nakamura said “It was a dream come true after a long time.” A Kamen Rider that everyone admires, Den-O is still loved by fans.

Kamen Rider Den-O is a story about fighting to defend time. A weak hero is a Kamen Rider. Sakurai, played by Nakamura, is a secondary Rider, who is key to the story. He has complicated circumstances behind his bullish attitude. Nakamura was 19 at the time and described it as “the happiest time”. He also said “To be honest, I followed the script, so I think if we did it now, I would have changed it. I was doing the best I could at that time.”

Sakurai was limited to the number of transformations, and was destined to disappear from people’s memories after each one. “Even if he disappeared from everyone’s memory, Sakurai still fight and transformed into Zeronos. He felt that weight.” Nakamura talked about the experiences gained through Sakurai, such as “treasuring life”, and “my existence will be lost from people’s memories”. He felt Sakurai’s feelings overlapped with his own “I also retired from the entertainment industry once. It felt painful to disappear little by little from everyone’s memory”. He retired but returned in 2014.

Nakamura expressed that he was glad people are returning to the series and celebrating the 10th anniversary of Kamen Rider Den-O. He is happy to feel the support of fans.

Nakamura also remembered filming with Takeru Satoh (Ryotaro Nogami/Kamen Rider Den-O). “I remember every moment. I was delighted I was able to transform with Sato.” The last shooting by Nakamura and Sato during Kamen Rider Den-O & Kiva: Climax Deka was still fresh on his mind. “After that, our shooting schedules were different. it was difficult to get together, so that was really the last time. I have a lot of memories left.”
Kamen Rider Den-O still remains a popular Kamen Rider series. In the past decade, it has still been supported by fans. Nakamura said “For me, I have longed to be a hero since childhood. This has been a dream come true for a long time.”

Finally, Nakamura said “I think there are not many works that people will love. In my life, there is definitely nothing I will love more than Den-O. But, it’s a pleasant and happy thing id the the Den-O train kept running through everyone’s hearts.”
