City of Nagoya Rice Art Festival to Feature Power Ranger’s Red Ranger

Rice field art uses a vast field to create a giant image. Different colors of rice are planted to create beautiful images. Farmers and citizens join together to have fun and experience rice cultivation. The design for 2008 featured animals from the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens.

For the first time, the rice field art will be in cooperation with a film company. This film is scheduled to be released on July 15th. The image will feature the phrase “Welcome to Nagoya Nanyo” along with an image of the Red Ranger the upcoming Power Rangers film.

The schedule has been planned:

  • May 14 (Sunday): Rice Planting
  • July 9 (Sunday): Observation meeting
  • October 8 (Sunday): Rice Cropping, Cosmos Picking
  • December 3 (Sunday): Harvest Festival

Recruitment for the project began on April 1 and will continue until April 20th. Those who live (or can move) and work in Nagoya can participate.
