ModelPress Features Toshiki Seto in Actor Spotlight Interview

The ModelPress Editing Department chooses rising stars in the “Interesting People” series. This time, Model Press has chosen Toshiki Seto, who stars as Hiiro Kagami/Kamen Rider Brave on TV Asahi’s Kamen Rider Ex-Aid (airing at 8AM on Sundays). Kamen Rider is regarded as a gateway for new actors.

Seto is 21 years old and was born on October 7, 1995. He is from the Chiba Prefecture. In 2014, he made his acting debut in the drama series Yowakutemo Katemasu: Aoshi Sensei to Heppoko Koukou Kyūji no Yabou (Baseball Brainiacs). He then appeared on tv shows such as The Emperor’s Cook (2015/TBS) and Montage (2016/Fuji TV). He made his movie debut in Strayer’s Chronicle in 2015, then went on to perform in P to JK and Kamen Rider × Super Sentai: Ultra Super Hero Taisen.

In Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, he plays a genius surgeon, Hiiro Kagami, working at Seiji University Hospital. He transforms into Kamen Rider Brave, whose motif is based off an RPG games. Seto is a handsome actor who is rapidly increasing in popularity among young women.

Q1. How did you make your debut?

I was a men’s hair model in high school. I was introduced to a model office from my hairdresser. I’ll always be indebted to him.

Q2. What is your favorite and least favorite food?

My favorite food is Pasta Neapolitan, and my least favorite is eggplant. I don’t like the texture.

Q3. What kind of girl do you like?

I like a girl that smiles well and has a natural body.

Q4. Favorite Quote?

“There is only one fact, but many people.” When I heard this, I thought it was applicable to my work.

Q5. What is your best feature?

My eyes! Even at the Kamen Rider Ex-Aid audition, I decided to “appeal with my eyes” into the judges’ eyes (laugh). After my role was decided, the producer told me “I want the viewers to see it with those eyes.”

Q6. If you had a catch phrase, what would it be and why?

“A sweet mix of the gap!” In Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, I play a cool genius surgeon. But in reality, I’m a sweet boy. When acting, you have to play a certain role. So, you have to do your best of that gap between your real self and your role.

Q7. What is your current workout routine?

I go to the gym and use the sauna to tighten my body. I also do push-ups and squats every day before sleeping.

Q8. What have you been into recently?

I am addicted to the song “Chicken Attack.”

Q9. What new experiences have you had?

I ate salted fish for the first time. I was not ready (cries)

Q10. Who would you like to see the most right now?

My grandma and grandpa. Every New Year, I see my grandpa and grandpa, who live in the country. But this year, I could not go.

Q11. What are you currently most passionate about?

I am passionate in what I’m doing now! Since I was a child, I have longed to be in Kamen Rider. I cherish my time working in this nice environment. I am filled with gratitude, and I want to challenge myself for this full year.

Even if you cut your hair, it grows back fast (laughs)

Q13. Why did you recently cry?

I’m afraid of heights, including roller coasters. Recently, I had to climb almost halfway during an action scene (laughs).

Q14. What challenges are you looking forward to?

I’ve been interested in Japanese culture for a long time, particularly history. I want to visit historic buildings when I have spare time.

Q15. What is the secret to making a dream come true?

Don’t take shortcuts. The best secret is to keep trying!
